Bye-bye Marilyn!

Art Museum in the background
A slow Sunday morning,,, after breakfast we drove the 40 min. into Palm Springs. First, we visited the Art Museum with a fantastic David Hockney exhibition (photos below). Also, we inspected the Frey House (photo far below) , home of Albert Frey, a swiss-born architect, who lived and worked in Palm Springs since 1934. He produced more than 200 building designs, his home was completed in 1964 high up in the Taquitz Canyon and only recently moved to the museum grounds.

Then, we went for a stroll through downtown before we met with old friends of us from Chicago/Philadelphia for lunch at the Chicken Ranch. Weather was fine and warm in PS, again, much warmer than in Yucca Valley, and, for the first time we even sweated a bit!

After lunch we drove to Palm Desert where we had tickets arranged for a visit to The Living Desert, an interesting mix of a Botanical Garden and a Zoo, focusing on the different deserts of the world.

In the late afternoon, when we left, we decided to give it another try: So far, we never found a real vivid bar on Superbowl Sunday (and we tried many times!). We drove to 1000 Palms, where the Coachella Brewing Co. is located in an industrial district. Guess what? Three guys and the (female) barkeeper sitting bored in the pub, one of them watching the game with us ,,, Beer was very good, but we left half-time and drove back to Yucca Valley to watch the rest of the game "at home", and, to get ready for tomorrow's new adventures, leaving for Arizona.
