Saturday - sun was out, but an icy wind, made it tough to stay outside most of the day.
Started in the morning with the Brooklyn Bridge Park, historic piers transformed into different recreational sections, sports fields, playgrounds, fishing piers, etc. A decade ago, there was nothing along the waterfront but industrial storehouses and installations, now it's vivid and attractive.
We walked all the way to the end, to Atlantic Avenue (left), an important axle for shopping and dining in Brooklyn, packed on a Saturday morning with fancy "brunch people". Checked out Sahadi's again - a superb oriental deli store - and continued to downtown and Barclays Center (pics below) for a not-too-exciting hockey game of the New York Islanders.
Having two hours of sunlight left, we decided to take the train to Coney Island still, for Nathan's hotdogs and a beautiful sunset and the new Coney Island Mural Project - different walls painted by individual artists, set up on an empty space.
The day ended with an IPA at Coney Island Brewery and then it took a long time to get back to Heidi's, trains aren't running very regularly on weekends.
