Pic above shows LAX, below: above the Appalachian Mountains, and, last one: sunset over the Washington area, briefly before landing.
Arrived at 6:30 pm local time (3 hours time difference to L.A.). Dulles Airport is still a bit old-fashioned in regard to "People Movers" (sturdy busses), which bring passengers from gates to baggage claim. Luggage was there when we arrived. We called an Uber to get into downtown, which is located about 28 mi/45 km away from the airport, but, also (brand-new!) connected by train. Will probably try that new means of transport on the way back to the airport on Wednesday. Traffic was light compared to L.A., and, on a Saturday evening not bad at all.Surprise at our pre-arranged accommodation, the Willard Intercontinental, a famous historic hotel closeby the White House: We were upgraded to a suite on the 10th floor, which we immediately called the whole huge place our "Oval Office" (which only refers to the living room of our suite). Opulently designed and furnished, old-style elegance, with two bathrooms, a kitchenette, several closets and great views (far below), we couldn't complain at all!
Relaxing now,,, and working,,,
