Was thinking that Vegas has a lot of common with NYC: Either you love it or hate it,,, just on a different scale. In any case, during our last visits we got to love downtown Vegas - less touristic, less "artificial", more original, creative and versatile.
Therefore, we took the Deuce Bus again all the way to downtown, first stop at Fremont Street Experience, sort of a "tourist trap" in downtown, still pretty empty in the morning. On to the container village, which unfortunately only opens at noon now (therefore: no coffee yet,,,), passing a couple of murals:
On we walked further east on Fremont Street and hit the so-called "Motel Row" (right photo). In the old days, this must have been the place, where travelers on a budget stayed: One motel beside the other, all abandoned, fenced in, but partly in neat condition. Wish, buildings could tell stories,,,! "No visitors after 10 pm" was a common sign and you could easily imagine old classic cars, big "boats", standing in front of the rooms. One of the old motels, The Fremont, was transformed into a restaurant and center with shops, for the rest, nothing seems to be going on, which is an absolute pity!
Murals coming up on the way back towards the heart of downtown, also the old "Golden Goose" motel sign before we found a nice coffeehouse by name "Brew it" and had a late breakfast there.
Admiring the many top-notch murals in the 18b Arts District (below), we eventually stopped at an interesting bookstore, called "Writers Block" (right). Haven't seen such a greatly decorated and organized bookstore before, also selling rare/unique items of all kinds, many with a nature topic.
Checked out a couple of vintage stores along "Brewery Row" and walked back to "The Strat" (Stratosphere Tower), where we hopped on a bus (photo on left taken through the bus window, from top level of the bus) and checked out some things along the Strip. Over 10 mi/16 km walked today, seems like we have to catch up for the last days, lazily sitting most of the time,,,
