We had a funny experience this morning on the Subway, the famous A Line (Duke Ellington!). The couple on the photo was on the train, in full Oktoberfest regalia! We were wondering, where they are headed to, and, guessed it would be Radegast Hall in Brooklyn. Lateron, we checked the place out, see below, please.
A must on a Saturday: Union Square Market (photos below). Fantastic choices, chefs' favorite, what you don't get there, you won't get anywhere!
Nutrition for the mind was next: Strands famous bookstore with real good deals in shelves outside (left) and plenty more books inside! Paradise in heaven for booklovers!

After our little Midtown excursion, we took the train to Brooklyn, to "follow" the couple dressed up in Dirndl & Lederhosen this morning. Radegast Hall in Williamsburg/Brooklyn indeed had an Oktoberfest going on, and, it was packed! Lines were much too long for our taste and we skipped a visit there.
Instead, we walked over to the waterfront, to Marsha P. Johnson State Park, where Smorgasburg, a gourmet market, took place. Kids were playing soccer and adults enjoying themselves. The views towards Manhattan below, and, gorgeos weather, up to 80 deg F/27 deg C. Life can be good!
Empire State Building in the center on photo above. We were still in the mood to explore some more of Brooklyn and took the train to Bushwick, famous for its murals, mostly by the Bushwick Collective. Street markets, pop-ups, crazy-loud clubs in warehouses (pretty secret, too!), and, two breweries.

From Bushwick it took us a almost an hour to get back to Harlem, but you can't get anywhere in NYC without taking the subway. And, a one-week pass still only costs $ 34! For huge distances, and, trains are running frequency around the clock!
