This time we are flying out of MUC to Washington, DC, for a research trip through Maryland and Virginia. Haven’t been in this area for 20+years and are looking forward to explore it again for 12 days! The U.S. South was the part we started our career as travel writers!
After that, we will fly to Chicago, also for a book update, for 4 days, and, at the end, of course, NYC (as every year). Back home in 3 1/2 weeks.
Flight was smooth and on time, fortunately, the middle seat stayed empty, which gave us a little more room to stretch. Luggage and car rental (got a nice Mitsubishi Outlander) took some time and we hit rush hour on our way out from Dulles Airport to Frederick/Maryland, our first stop. Arrived at 6 pm and were picked up to a nice dinner at Wine Kitchen on Carroll Creek - reminding us of the San Antonio Riverwalk! Sat outside and enjoyed delicious steaks and a local beer after a long day.
