A Sunday on the Beach

Cool Saturday evening, one day before full moon. We slept well in our hut and had a pleasant Sunday breakfast in the sun (!) watching little geckos on a bird of paradise (Strelitzia) - photo on bottom. Then we departed for Spencer State Park Beach (pic) - a short 15 min. drive - with our full beach equipment. It's more of a family beach, slowly dropping, mostly sandy. Water was warm, almost no waves. Spent all day, till 5pm lazily there. Succeeded in reading a whole book in one go: Gaellen Quinn's "The Last Aloha" about the last Hawaiian Queen - recommendable reading.

Afterwards we decided to save money (no simple restaurant meal in Hawaii under $ 50 for 2) and bought some ground beef, an onion, a poplano pepper, a can of beans and corn tortillas and had our home-cooked chili with a beer.
