Stunning Farewell Concert

Wednesday and Thursday were packed with appointments, all day long, pretty exhausting. Thursday the host city 2019 was announced, it's Boise/Idaho. The farewell event was quite unusual: First there was a reception in the LSD conference center - with a huge aula for 20,000+ people and a fantastic organ (pic). Little appetizers and hot chocolate were being served; Mormons don't consume anything which can make you addicted: no coffee, tea, alcohol etc. Because of that, part two of the final party took place in a brewpub named Squatters in downtown.

But before, we walked over to Temple Square and enjoyed a special treat: a 20-min. exclusive performance of the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir with a total of 360 members, in the impressive Tabernacle. Accustic there is just spectacular.

Needed a drink afterwards, but the two floors at the brewpub were filling up quickly and lines at the buffet and at the bar were long and place was a little loud and packed. We talked to the brewmaster and got to know that draft beer in UT can only have a max. of 4 % alcohol, whereas there are no restrictions for bottled or canned beer. Drafts tasted pretty watery, but bottled beer was good. Considering that a couple of years ago you had to become member of a club to get a drink in a restaurant at all, situation has improved a lot.
