Out again,,, flight # 75 to the U.S.A.! This time our destination is the „Great American West“ – Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas and Nebraska. Doing a round trip, for research for articles and book update, for two and a half weeks. Haven’t been to WY and MT for a long time - looking especially forward to that.
We took profit of the new UA flight from Munich to Denver (photo), big plus is, that it only departs at 4 pm in the afternoon and that we therefore didn’t need to get up in the dark to get to the airport on time, possibly standing in a traffic jam on the autobahn in the morning. Leisurely packed and got the apartment ready for pickup of our friend at noon, one hour later at the airport. Smooth and convenient! Lines at check-in and security surprised us a bit - we weren’t used to people anymore - last year, and, even this February, the airport was empty. Also, the plane - a Boeing 787 - is almost completely full!
Flight took us 10 1/2 hours, not too bad considering our last ones to San Francisco, arrived a little belayed at 7 pm, not quite at sunset and with rainbows showing. Whole procedure of immigration, luggage and car rental pick-up took us a while and drive into downtown wasn’t that close neither.
Arrived at the „artsy“ ART Hotel Denver (below), smack in the middle of the Civic Center Cultural Complex at 9 pm and called it a day.
