"Go West Summit" in Reno NV

Early Sunday morning - before the Superbowl crazyness - we left Los Angeles at sunrise (pic on left), and flew into Reno/NV. Smooth, short flight, over the Lake Tahoe region.

What a different world again! Snow covered moutains, a spreadout city, lots of space. Pics below were taken from our room on the 14th floor this morning. Notice the ice rink besides the pool, which was crowded yesterday, thanks to about 65 deg. F outside temp! The lake is a water reservoir, also used as a golf driving range. We are staying at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino, a little out of downtown, for the Go West Summit, a travel trade show selling the American West.

There are few journalists, but having attended many times, the important part - especially after two tough COVID years and two cancelled shows - is to reconnect and to talk with reps from different destinations. The show kicked off with an Oregon Reception on Sunday evening, followed by a full day of really interesting presentations on different topics, e.g. how to promote traveling to overseas tourists after COVID, overtourism in National Parks, sustainable tourism, how to better promote destinations, etc.

This evening the show was officially opened in a LEX Nightclub at the hotel: loud DJ music, bars, finger food. Lots to drink, hard to make conversation, but nice to meet people again. Mask mandate has been eliminated in Nevada recently, and, attitude is very relaxed in regard to COVID ,,,
