Out and about

Smooth and on-time flight in a new B787, but, VERY long: 11,5 hours from MUC nonstop to San Francisco and then another 1.5 hours to Salt Lake City. We were VERY fortunate and got an upgrade to Polaris First/Business Class on the international flight, which was a big, big plus, especially the comfy seats to stretch out and the better food! The plane flew on an average height of 40,000 ft. (12 km), following an extreme northern route, over Greenland and Canada into Washington, Oregon and over the SF Bay with gorgeous views towards "The Belle of the Bay", San Francisco (picture below).

Arrived to SLC on time in the evening, picked up our rental car (a Nissan Rogue SUV) and drove to our not worth mentioning motel in Downtown Salt Lake City. Sleep was fitful, especially when a big truck in front of our window first warmed up the car for about 15 min and then blew all the fumes through the open window of our room. At 5:30 am!
