Criss-crossing Manhattan

Beautiful blue skies and about 50 deg. F./10 C on Thursday. We explored different neighborhoods, walking about 17 km (10+ mi) in total and made many miles by trains. Highlight was, again, the WTC Site with the fantastic Calatrava building (Oculus) - the bird-like building on the picture below - much better than most of the other architecture on the grounds. Also, checked out the new Pier 17, but not much is open there yet. At least the views toward the waterfront, the downtown skyline and the historic ships are gorgeous. In the evening we were invited to EATALY, to a cooking demonstration (tasting of ham, salume, mortadella) by Rovagnati, an Italian company introducing there produce in the U.S. It was fun!
