In the Air again

After months and months in the office and in the garden - at least, that's how it felt - and a sudden drop of temperature, we got serious cabin fever. Finally, out we are again, for the 3rd time this year and the 60th time in total to the U.S. It'll be a four-week trip and with the exception of the last week it'll be business, many changes of hotels, many miles to drive, people to meet and sights and landscapes to admire. Starting tomorrow at 8:30 am with a full day of sightseeing in OKC.

Up VERY early, at 4:20 am, to catch the first streetcar and then a train (actually, two) to MUC. All went surprisingly smooth and we arrived to the airport at 7 am. Printed boarding passes didn't help much in MUC, because of security checks and no drop-off luggage counter, but lines were sort, same for security. One of the advantages of MUC is that it's usually quiet, and each time here we ask ourselves why the heck they need a third runway (which is projected).

Full plane, a meager meal (on the pic my vegetarian choice), a permanently crying baby and no sleep ... the United Airlines flight to Houston was unremarkable. Arrived on time, at 2 pm, in the 80 deg. F. (30 deg. C) hot city and thanks to Global Entry (registering there was the best thing we ever did) were through immigration in the blink of an eye thanks to automated kiosks without lines. It took a little longer to get the luggage,to re-check it, and to pass security again, but we had plenty of time, lay-over was over 3 hours.

Made it in record time of about 50 min. from OKC Airport to our beautiful historic Ambassador Hotel in Midtown, apparently an up&coming neighborhood with nice restaurants, a food truck park and bars. The flight was on time, baggage was there and rental car pick-up was quick. Got a big new Hyundai Santa Fe, but since it was dark already (with dramatic thunderstorm clouds). We were too tired to still walk to one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood, after over 24 hours on our feet, we just grabbed a bite in the hotel bar (with a great view towards the Capitol and Downtown) and fell asleep soon in our comfy bed.
